COLLINSVILLE  – The Quodlibet Ensemble returns to the Collinsville Congregational Church for the seventh consecutive year on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 4 p.m. for its popular “Music For a Joyous Season” concert. An annual highlight of the Shepherd Music Series, the concert brings together a group of talented and accomplished musicians to present music from the Baroque and Romantic eras, and a world premier by member musician Nathan Schram.

Founded in 2008, the Quodlibet Ensemble (from the Latin for “what pleases”) gave its debut concert that year to critical acclaim at Yale University. In the intervening years members of the ensemble have pursued their careers nationally, both as soloists and members of chamber groups such as the early music group the Sebastians, the contemporary ensemble New Morse Code, the Amphion String Quartet and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

The Quodlibet Ensemble released its debut CD – “Quodlibet Ensemble: Concerti Grossi” – in the fall of 2014. The program for the Dec. 13 concert will include works by Telemann, Fux, Corelli and Mendelssohn.

Music For a Joyous Season is one of the most popular concerts of the Shepherd Music Series and has played to a full house every year at the Collinsville Congregational Church. As with all events sponsored by the Maxwell Shepherd Memorial Arts Fund, admission is free and all are welcome.

The Maxwell Shepherd Memorial Arts Fund is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the fine and performing arts. All funding comes from donations by supporters and patrons. Tax-deductible donations, including employer matching gifts, may be made at the concert or sent to MSMAF, Inc., c/o Collinsville Savings Society, P.O. Box 197, Collinsville, CT 06019.
