COLLINSVILLE – A fundraiser to benefit Collinsville resident Scott Lindsay, originally set to take place later this month, has been rescheduled for March 5 at Wilson’s Pub.

A primary reason for the change is due to the fact that Steve Jones, former resident and renowned jazz guitarist, has offered his talents to the effort and give all band tips to Lindsay.

In January, Lindsay was rushed to the hospital with flu-like symptoms but was later diagnosed as having congestive heart failure. He has ongoing medical care issues, diet restrictions and more but is now back home and resting. Lindsay has not yet been able to work, although he hopes to soon.

“I am getting a little better every day, building up strength,” Lindsay stated in a message to Canton Compass. “I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity the community has shown me.”

Kristen Stevens, a close friend who is organizing the fundraiser, said the community’s generosity has indeed been overwhelming and so many businesses and individuals have donated items for the fundraiser.

Additionally, author Peter Lion, who penned “American St. Nick, the story of American soldiers who in World War II rekindled Christmas in a Luxembourg town, will also sign books and donate sale proceeds to Lindsay during the fundraiser.

The March 5 event, at Wilson’s Pub, 3 River St., Collinsville, will include a silent auction that will run from approximately 7 to 9 p.m. Jones and guests are set to begin about a half hour later.

“This simply got much bigger than we anticipated,” Stevens said. “So many people want to help Scott out.”

Anyone who wants to donate can email kristenstevens@comcast.net
