Overall voter turnout in Canton was 52 percent, in line with what officials had expected. Earlier in the day, election officials reported a steady, but not overwhelming stream of voters.
“It’s been steady but not overwhelming,” said Jack Miner, Republican Registrar of Voters, said earlier in the day.
“People have been moving through the lines pretty quickly,” added his Democratic counterpart Lynn Homan.
From March 1 through Monday, the town had received 211 voter updates, said Miner. Many of those were unaffiliated voters changing their status.
Statewide, the Associated Press declared victories for Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton. See more from our friends at CTNewsJunkie.com.
