Danbury – The Independent Party of Connecticut unanimously endorsed Senator Kevin Witkos at their convention on Aug. 23, according to a submitted release from the Witkos campaign.  The Independent Party of Connecticut is the third largest political party in Connecticut.

“It is an honor and privilege to receive the Independent Party’s nomination,” Witkos stated via the release. “I have always been an independent thinker and strive to make my decisions based on what is best for the families and residents of the towns in the 8th district, rather than party politics.  In these days of intense partisan bickering, I always strive to bring both parties together to find solutions for our state.”

Witkos is seeking re-election to his 5th term representing the 8th state Senate district which includes Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Harwinton, Hartland, Granby, New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury and Torrington.

He is being challenged by Avon Democrat David Pena.
