Accident Results in Injuries, Closure of Route 179, Some Delays in Getting Kids to School

CANTON — Two motorists were injured in a two-car accident on Cherry Brook Road Friday morning, police said.

The crash, in the vicinity of 347 Cherry Brook, was reported shortly before 8 a.m.

Police received a 9-1-1 call at 7:54 a.m. and responding crews found the road completely blocked. Both drivers were transported to area hospital but were conscious and their injuries were considered non life threatening, police said.

Police officers, the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department and a Canton paramedic responded.

The road remained closed for an hour and there were some delays in school bus transportation.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to call 860-693-0221.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not released any names.
