Car crashes into building at Canton Village

The town of Canton Fire & EMS Department was dispatched to The Outlet, 220 Albany Turnpike at 11:21 a.m. Tuesday, June 6 for the report of a vehicle into a building. Upon arrival, fire crews on Rescue 9, Engine 1, Squad 5 with Canton EMS & Paramedic personnel in Car 10 observed a dark BMW with its front end partially inside a business.

“Fire crews assisted the driver out of the vehicle and into Canton’s ambulance for evaluation,” said Fire Chief Craig Robbins. “No further extrication was required and no hospital transport was made.”

Police said the driver was a 67-year-old Avon resident. Canton police are investigating the accident and the town’s building inspector also reported to the scene. The store was closed for the rest of the day. Any witnesses are asked to call 860-693-0221.
