Volunteers for the Canton Volunteer Fire Company Inc. served more than 1,200 lobster dinners Friday night as the 36th annual lobsterfest got underway.
“It’s been a great turnout and a great night,” said Chris Melite, who is co-chairing this year’s event with Richard Zommer.
The annual event raises funds for the private corporation, which supports the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department.
The event takes place at the Canton street fire station on Canton Springs Road. For $20, patrons get a dinner of corn on the cob, New England Clam Chowder and beverage of choice. Additionally, desserts are served in Ellsworth Hall.
For those who don’t care for lobster, hamburgers, hot dogs and other food can be purchased in the field. Additional beverages, including beer and wine, are also available.
A touch a truck event, with face painting and other activities, takes place from noon to 4 p.m on Saturday. That night, Flipper Dave will perform from 6 to 10 p.m.
Dinner hours for the remainder will be:
- Saturday August 20th from 12:00-9:30PM
- Sunday, August 21st from 12:00-4:00 PM or until Sold out
