The Canton Girls Varsity soccer team and Windsor Locks battled into double overtime Tuesday afternoon, when the game was finally called at 0-0.

“The girls played their hearts out and left everything out on the field,” said coach Seth Korn. “Windsor Locks was a very strong team, but we played like the team I know we are.”

The team needs  3 1/2 more points to make the state tournament.

“If we continue to have the same effort as we did this game we should make it, but it will not  be an easy road ahead against some strong teams,” Korn said.

Korn said Emily Mitchel, Katie Walker, Maggie Treacy stepped up Tuesday, “controlling the pace of the game and containing Windsor Locks defensively.

Each team had several scoring chances including efforts from Canton’s Olivia Sullivan and Sofia Langou.

The girls record is 2-7-2. Next up, the girls face Suffield in an away game on Thursday.  … Continue Reading
