Students, town and school officials officially dedicated the track and field facility Friday morning.

Town and educational officials joined students, staff and community members Friday morning to formally dedicate the track and multi-use field at Canton High School.
High School principal Drew DiPippo said the facility not only involved a partnership between the Board of Education and other town committees and boards but also the residents of Canton.
“It was a true commitment by everyone in town,” he said.
The field itself was done late last fall but not for the fall alumni weekend and night games as many had hoped. This spring, summer and fall the final touches, including a scoreboard and bleachers, were installed.
First Selectman Richard Barlow continued on DiPippo’s theme and thanked numerous people — not only officials, board members, volunteers and voters but also a group of residents who began studying the idea several years ago.
