Since attending a performance more than 30 years ago, Doreen Cohn has always wanted to produce ‘Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits.”

Now, as executive director of Farmington Valley Stage Company, Cohn is doing just that. She said the timing was right for the production, the company’s first musical. The talent just came together, Cohn said.

“It all came together – the perfect storm I call it,” she said.

The production, which takes place at the Town Hall Auditorium, 4 Market St., Collinsville opens at 8 p.m. March 4 and continues on the 5th, 10th, 11th and 12th. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 6.

There are more than 25 wigs and costumes for a cast of 3 men and 4 women. It honors and spoofs productions such as Annie, Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Cats and Fiddler on the Roof.

With Musical direction by Michael Yachanin, of Simsbury, this production features Tracy Funke (Manchester), Al Girard (East Hartford) , Jim Wood (Winsted) , Dianna Waller (Winsted) , Basema Hamied (Newington) , Katie Stodd Knapp (Plainville) and Nick Parisi (Simsbury).  Costume design  is by Cindy Braunlich (Simsbury), Technical direction by Ken Jones (Canton), and Assistant Director/Stage manager, Heidi Bengraff (Windsor).

New York’s longest running musical comedy revue, “Forbidden Broadway” was conceived and written by Gerard Alessandrini.

Tickets are $23 adults, $20 students/seniors in Advance online and $25/$22 at the door. For more information on the production, the theater company and to purchase tickets, visit www.fvstage.org.
