As organizers plan for the second Collinsville Hot event on July 16, the idea is to incorporate many of the elements from last year while tweaking a few details.

Bob Bessel, a board member for Canton Main Street, the umbrella organization for the event, estimates that some 4,000 people enjoyed last year’s festivities.

“We started this thing with high hopes and it exceeded all of them last year,” Bessel said. “We’re really excited about doing even better this year.”

Many of the major aspect of the event, such as fire dancers, a chalk walk, live music and an artisan fair are set to remain.

This year, however, the duration of the event will likely be a bit shorter, and activities, such as the fire show, chalk walk and live music will stay more centralized, Bessel said.

For example, fire dancers capped off the night last year with a parade and subsequent show along the Farmington River trail. This time around, fire dancers will likely keep their performance in downtown Collinsville, Bessel said. Food vendors will be slated to stay later in the evening as well. The fire on the river won’t likely happen – although Collinsville Canoe and Kayak is hosting one of its moonlight paddles that evening.

Collinsville Hot organizers are still in the planning stages but Bessel said likely times are noon to 10 p.m., with music starting around 3 p.m.

Stay tuned for further details.
