Local Bands Honored at Regional Competitions

Ragtop Doozy and Kais & Dollz, musical acts with ties to Canton, each took top prize in recent Battle of the Bands events.

On Friday, April 29, both bands competed in the first annual Avon Battle of the Bands to benefit Vie for the Kids, a medical charity that supports clinical trials to treat cancer. Ragtop Doozy, a quartet made up of Ben Sullivan (Canton) on drums, Zac Mulcahy (Canton) and Adam Eytan (Canton) on guitar, and Ian D’Arcangelo (Avon) on bass, claimed the top prize among the five bands in the event. They earned several hours of recording studio time at Sohno Studios in Avon. Ragtop Doozy will perform next on Friday, May 13 at the outdoor stage near Downright Music & Art in Collinsville.

Kais & Dollz, featuring Rowan and Ella Cookman of Canton and Meghan & Jaden Spangenberg of Harwinton, won first prize at the 12th Annual Battle of the Bands hosted by the Housatonic Youth Services Bureau in Falls Village. They earned the first prize of $150, 10 hours of recording time at The Music Lab in Canaan and a spot on the stage for the Spring for Sound Music Festival on June 11 in Millerton, NY.
