Submitted Release

Canton Dollars for Scholars proudly announces its 2016 Scholarship Recipients, who received their awards on Wednesday, June 1st as part of the Senior Awards Ceremony held at Canton High School.  This year, fourteen deserving students from both public and private schools received scholarships.  These awards are sponsored by companies, service organizations and families honoring a loved one, as well as from the CDFS General Fund (funds from donors and fundraising activities).

This year’s awardees are:  Hannah Bonini, William Briggs, Carver Coleman, Devon Daubert, Mark Iovine, Cameron Lange, Gabrielle Manna, Henry McKenna, Emily Miller, Kaelyn Oliver, Maren Parchen, Sophia Pelehach, Matthew Sullivan and Mia Tuccillo.

A special mention was made to honor Kelsey Boman, a young woman who spent much of her life helping her peers and other youth in need, here and abroad.  The many donations made in her memory funded an entire General Fund scholarship.  Canton Dollars for Scholars is grateful to all the families, individual donors and organizations who support the CDFS mission to help Canton’s youth pursue their higher education goals.

Canton’s chapter of Dollars for Scholars has a 30-year tradition of helping high school seniors.  Over the years, support from students, schools, residents and the Town of Canton has grown significantly. The current board is retiring this year, and is actively seeking new members to continue and refresh its vision.  New members of all ages can both learn about today’s college application process, and create new ways to engage students and community.  Those interested in Canton Dollars for Scholars may contact Pat Maloy at patmaloy203@hotmail.com, or 860-693-0802.
