Canton Police Investigating Untimely Death; Military Grenade Found at Scene

Canton police are investigating an untimely death.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday, officers and an ambulance crew from the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department responded to 462 Dowd Ave. in the Canton Village Condominium Complex after a 9-1-1 call about an unresponsive individual, police said.

Personnel determined the man, identified as Kent Sears,67, of 462 Dowd Ave. had been deceased for an extended amount of time, police said.  … Continue Reading

Two Sent to Hospital After Accident at Route 44, Dowd Avenue Saturday Morning

Rt44-Dowd Ave 7-12-14 001-2Two people were sent to the hospital Saturday morning after a two-car crash at the intersection of Dowd Avenue and Route 44. Police said the injuries did not seem serious in nature.

The accident occurred after  a car headed west on Route 44 attempted to turn into Dowd and collided with a vehicle headed eastbound. A car and a Cadillac Escalade were involved but further details were not immediately available.

Canton Emergency Officials Respond to Rollover Thursday Night

Police are investigating a one-car accident at Center and Bridge streets Thursday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m. police and members of the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department responded the scene of the accident.

No serious injuries were reported and no hospital transport was involved, officials said.

Police Sgt. Tyson Deloy said the vehicle veered off Center Street and rolled down on to Bridge Street. Two people were in the vehicle and the accident is under investigation, police said. Deloy said weather did not seem to be a factor in the accident.

Someone smashed the glass to the front door at Subway in Canton overnight late Wednesday or early Thursday, police said.

“It was discovered this morning when employees arrived,” Police Capt. Larry Terra said Thursday.
